Washington, D.C. — Turn Forward Executive Director Hillary Bright issued the following statement regarding Empire Wind 1’s construction restart:

“Turn Forward applauds the Trump Administration and New York Gov. Hochul for creating a path forward that allows the Empire Wind project to resume construction and get back to work employing thousands of people to build a new, local source of electricity that will power over 500,000 homes. Offshore wind is a valuable tool to help the administration achieve its goal of strengthening America’s energy independence and security. Fully permitted projects like Empire Wind 1 are ready to generate jobs, boost our nation’s manufacturing capacity, bolster the U.S. shipbuilding sector, and bring critical new sources of power onto the grid at a time when demand is rising sharply. The administration should take full advantage of America’s many energy resources and the unique ability of offshore wind to help meet surging demand, support economic competitiveness, and further American energy dominance.”
