Washington, D.C. — Turn Forward Executive Director Hillary Bright issued the following statement regarding the federal court’s decision to vacate President Trump’s wind memorandum:
“Today’s court decision signals that the implementation of President Trump’s executive order blocking new wind energy projects is unlawful. America’s energy future must be shaped by an ‘everything-that-works’ approach that provides certainty for investors in large-scale projects and protects our ability to meet rapidly growing power demand.
Offshore wind in particular is essential to meeting regional electricity needs and maintaining grid reliability as coastal states face rising demand from data centers, electrification, and population growth. These projects provide a much-needed, utility-scale source of electricity that complements existing generation and strengthens the resilience of our power system.
Hopefully, this decision will help pave the way toward a more predictable permitting process in the U.S. that allows all energy projects to move forward efficiently and responsibly. America’s workers, ratepayers, and energy security depend on it.”
