Washington, D.C. — Turn Forward Executive Director Hillary Bright issued the following statement on passage of reconciliation legislation by the U.S. House of Representatives:

“America needs more domestic energy resources to power our future and achieve energy dominance. Offshore wind projects are already starting to deliver the local jobs, manufacturing investment, and energy security benefits that are important to all Americans.

Unfortunately, language in the House’s budget bill would roll back clean energy incentives that have successfully helped fuel more than $25 billion in U.S. offshore wind investments. These projects are creating real economic impact today, supporting shipyards, steel manufacturers, and American jobs in communities from Texas to New Jersey.

Now is not the time to limit access to our nation’s energy resources. Whether it’s federal permits, tariffs or tax credits, it is essential that companies who have invested or want to invest in U.S. energy dominance have confidence that their investment won’t be undermined by shifts in energy or economic policy. Prematurely phasing out important tax credits would only undermine that confidence.

We urge policymakers to maintain a clear and stable policy environment that supports long-term energy planning, American competitiveness, and economic growth. This vote threatens to undercut the progress already underway, and we urge the Senate to protect the momentum the clean energy economy has already created across so many U.S. states.”
