Energy Independence and Jobs Drive Bipartisan Support for Offshore Wind in January 2025 Poll
Polling MemoA January 2025 multi-state poll conducted by the Tarrance Group found broad, bipartisan support for offshore wind energy across 12 politically diverse states. Roughly two-thirds of voters said they favor developing offshore wind both in U.S. waters and off the coasts of their own states, underscoring a strong national appetite for clean, homegrown energy sources. Support for offshore wind bridged party lines, with Republican backing highest in Texas and Virginia, where more than half of GOP voters expressed support. The findings highlight that offshore wind’s economic and workforce benefits resonate widely, particularly in regions already familiar with wind development.
The poll also revealed that support increases significantly when voters learn more about offshore wind’s contributions to energy independence and job creation. Among all voters, 68% agreed that offshore wind enhances U.S. energy independence, and 76% said it provides good-paying jobs that don’t require a four-year degree. The results suggest that as awareness grows, so does enthusiasm for offshore wind as a cornerstone of America’s energy strategy: one that boosts economic opportunity, strengthens national security, and helps meet rising demand for reliable, affordable power.
